Long-distance move from Hilo, HI to Long Beach, CA

Hawaiian Shippers Lost ALL of my Belongings

From Oct 25, 2022:

We were moving from the Big Island to Las Vegas and Hawaiian Shippers seemed like a legit company to ship with. We only had 10 boxes. Jen was friendly and made everything sound easy. We paid the 10% deposit to buy space on someone's container and scheduled our drop-off.

On the drop-off day, we were told that the container we purchased space on filled up, but that they would receive our items and store them until a container is available. So we dropped our boxes off on November 15, 2021, before flying out. (The moving guys were very friendly.)

Three months went by with no communication, so I started calling to see if they had found space on a container yet. Emails became completely unresponsive, calls were never returned. I started calling periodically and it wasn't until February that someone finally told me that our boxes had shipped. We were told, "the next time you'll hear from us will be when your boxes arrive in Long Beach."

Another couple of months went by and we started calling again. We got ahold of people sometimes, but they'd put us on hold and disconnect or give us a name and email address to contact someone who would never reply.

Finally, in May of 2022, I reached a man who called around and found out that our boxes had arrived in Long Beach months prior, but the container we bought space on was flagged and searched, so everything was mixed up. He said it would be sorted the first week of June, and that I would receive a call to pick them up shortly after.

It is now the end of October 2022 and I have been ignored every time that I have called and emailed since June. We still have not received our belongings or any updates. I have found several phone numbers and emails for this company and have tried them all, and my calls still go answered or unreturned.

I am at a loss. I've been spending more money replacing items I've needed over nearly a YEAR.

Update on my review from Jan 20, 2023:

We were in CA so we decided to visit Let's Move it Right's warehouse (this is the vendor Hawaiian Shippers uses and they share office space.) We were told that our boxes had been there but were no longer able to be located. David was also incredibly rude, though he knew exactly who we were. They said that the boxes could have been put mistakenly into someone else's storage crates, either there, in Las Vegas, or in Texas. They promised to open the crates and see if our boxes were there.

After weeks of calling and emailing, I finally received an email reply, "Unfortunately we have been unable to locate the boxes. At this point the only thing we can do is request Hawaiian shippers refund the deposit. If the boxes ever do turn up again, we will reach out and get them to you asap."

So that's it. All of our belongings are gone, without even an apology. We had some deeply sentimental items in those boxes. I am heartbroken and nauseous over it.

Long-distance move from Hawaii to California

Last Minute shipping from HI to CA.

I had to ship my vehicle back to the mainland from Hawaii last minute.  A coworker of mine used this company to ship their house hold items and vehicles approximately three weeks prior and said that they had a good experience.  I called and spoke to a representative and she was both knowledgeable and patient in understanding my needs.  I never felt pressured in her trying to close the deal, instead she gave me assurance that the process was transparent and reliable, and to feel free to shop around.         In the last two weeks of my relocation, I had been so preoccupied with tying up loose ends with other factors of my move, I thought that I secured my reservation with the company.  When I called to make sure everything was in place, I discovered I didn't submit all the information that was needed.  As she was giving me instructions to make sure my car was washed and up to US port authority standards, she was on the other line with the shipping company securing my reservation.  Within 20 minutes of the port closing, I had my vehicle in que to make that week's departure.   Approximately 10 days later my truck arrived ahead of schedule and she contacted me to give a heads up.  I had great service from beginning to end.  I would use and/or recommend this company's service to any and everyone with shipping needs. Aloha-.

Long-distance move from Waialua, HI to Mount Pleasant, TN

Scam!

Hawaiian vanlines quoted us approx $16,000 for shipping our household and two vehicles from Oahu, Hawaii to Tennessee. After the movers showed up and started filling one of two trucks, we were then told the price was changed to an additional $12,000. At this point we had no choice but to pay it. Our cars had already been shipped, our plane tickets had been purchased for the next day. We found out later that this is a common practice for this company. When we finally received our household delivery, after Hawaiian vanlines wouldn’t answer our phone calls or return our messages for a week, the driver contacted us and told us he couldn’t deliver directly to our house because his tracker trailer @ 70 feet long, was too big to come down our street and he would have to rent an additional truck and transfer our things from his truck to a smaller truck and then to our house. Which would ultimately cost us an additional $7000-$8000. Fortunately, after talking to the driver and explaining our experience, he told us to just go rent a U-Haul and they would do the rest. But still cost an additional $90 for the truck.

Long-distance move from Washington to Hawaii

Beware of Eden Relocation, Inc.

I contracted Eden Relocation, Inc. aka Hawaiian Van Lines to move my personal goods from Seattle WA to Kihei, Hi.  This move was a total nightmare from the time the drivers (late) arrived, to the time the load was delivered (also late).  The drivers arrived to load in Seattle unpreparted, not enough boxes, tape and blankets.  The load was finally delivered in Kihei and it looked like the a bomb wnt off in the container.  Most boxes were wet and moderately damaged.  Boxes and items never made it.  I did have someone elses lawnmower, large wooden desk, bed headboard  and a couple misc boxes.  The Eden Relocation crew who unloaded the container said this was the worst shape of a load they have ever seen and made numerous appologies.  Most if not all furniture hadmultiple scratches and dents.  Rust was several pieces, indicating that the load was exposed to weather, also an indication of water damage was multiple boxes that arrived wet.  I complained to Eden Relocation and they told me to file a claim, so I did.  They sent me a settlement check for apprx $120, what a joke!!  Avoid the headaches and use another company or better yet save yourself a lot of money and headaches and do the move yourself and avoid they jerkoffs.  You can contract to have a container brought to your house, you load it and they come and pickup the container, same for when you arrive at your destination.  They will bring out the continer, you unload and they pick up the container when you finish unloading.

Long-distance move from Washington to Hawaii

Scam.

WARNING! We booked as Hawaiin van lines and actually yelped it and nothing came up so we booked what we thought was a great price. We got a call 3 days before pick up and they said that they wouldn't be able to make it Friday but could on sat and the driver will call is on fri to set up time..NO ONE CALLED OR ANWSERED PHONE. Finally on sat they said that the truck could not make it for 3 or 4 more days and WE should find storage and WE SHOULD FIGURE OUT SOMETHING. When we said that is not acceptable because we fly out in 3 days they informed us they were sorry and would refund our deposit. High and dry just like that. We scrambled to find a new shipping company and thank god for LJ at Guardian and John at Hercules was also ready to help. We have since learned that H V LINES is also westpoint relocation and under several other names also.

Long-distance move from California to Hawaii

Scam.. Scam.. :(.

Worst service ever! I cannot even give them one star! They are always late! They ruined my dresser mirror, were late by 2.5 hrs after already canceling an earlier appointment. They were to delivertoday at 6pm, then postponed to 8.30 pm, then had the nerve to ask me of they can deliver at 11.30pm!! They're now going to show up at 5 in the morning tomorrow!! Unbelievably horrid service. Please save yourself the trouble. If they are the only movers available, sell your stuff and buy new furniture. Bad bad service! Oh so bad!….

Car Shipped.

Every time I called I got a person not a machine and was never put on hold.  The rep I dealt with was always available.  I shipped my car to Oahu, they did all the work, I just drove it to the dock and they were less expensive than Matson.  I will be using them in the future to ship my household items. .
